Our world has had some extreme measures and modifications recently, what now will seem to be the new ‘normal’ is something most of us can assert we have never experienced. Every event professional within the industry is wondering what will events look like moving forward during Covid 19 “normal”. The exhibitions industry was most definitely one industry to take a huge hit, with so many events being postponed numerous times, cancelled and sadly businesses no longer operating. Every event professional within the industry found themselves at one stage or another wondering what the industry would look like once it reopened. There was a huge cry for help to the government in requiring some sort of support to help through the difficult forced closure.
We are now finally seeing some sort of light at the end of the tunnel. Things are finally seeing some sort of ‘normal’ again, and with that is the return of events and exhibitions in some shape or form.
If you are unaware, the Federal Government has announced a grant to help the exhibition industry get back on its feet and to help exhibitors attend business events with confidence.
How does the grant work
The Business Events program provides delegates, including buyers and sellers, with financial support to attend and participate at exhibitions, conferences, and events. The program aims to support the industry covering any events which are planned to take part from 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2021.
The initiative will not only ease some of the financial pressure for organisers but also instil confidence back into the business events sector and give incentive to Australian businesses to attend.
Depending on the application, grants are to cover up to 50% of their costs (between $10,000 and $250,000).
There are a few requirements in terms of meeting eligibility.
To be eligible for the grant, your industry would need to come under one of the approved priority sectors below:
Food and agribusiness
Oil and gas
Plastics and waste recycling
Enabling digital technologies
In addition, your business need to be structured in a way that you meet one of the eligibility criteria below:
an individual (sole trader)
